For Throwback Thursday this week PBJ has chosen a classic movie star. Straight from the 50’s we give you the lovely and talented Debbie Reynolds. She was signed by Warner Brothers at the age of 16 but her career got off to a rocky start. It wasn’t until 1952, when she landed a leading role in her most well known film, “Singin in the Rain” along side Gene Kelly and Donald O’Conner, that she struck stardom. In “Singin in the Rain,” it was her voice that everyone loved as her character did voice overs during the rise of the “talkies”, but as far as we are concerned, it is her looks that has landed her center stage.
We chose the above photo for inspiration because is shows a classic Reynolds look; simple, refined, yet stunning at the same time. I love the look of a white collared shirt and Reynolds chose one with a subtle pattern giving her outfit a little more excitement. She paired it with a statement necklace that really pops. Choosing a bigger necklace with a collar is great because it holds its own against a busy neckline. Reynolds adds a little something to her look with a “my lips but better” matte lipstick and some killer eyelashes. Finally her hair. She has curl, volume, and not a strand out of place. Reynolds sang, dances, and styled her way into the hearts of millions.
Here are some stylish pieces and beauty products that will work great for this look.
