Throwback Thursday: Spellbinding Fashion with Maggie Smith

Welcome back to Throwback Thursday! This week we went all the way over the pond for our inspiration. PBJ is going British and turning Maggie Smith for some fashion advice. Born in Essex in 1934, Smith by the age of 16 she knew she wanted to be an actress, dropped out of high school, and began studying acting at the Oxford Playhouse. Smith has been in countless theater productions, television shows, and movies over the years. She is best known for her portrayal of Professor Minerva McGonagall in the Harry Potter movies, and as┬áViolet Crawley, the Dowager Countess of Grantham in the Masterpiece Classic Downton Abbey; she has won a Golden Globe and two Emmy’s for this role.

We love the above picture because it shows Smith in all her glory. The large fur scarf and hat makes for a cozy fall look and the eye shadow and earrings give just enough bling to make this warming look glamorous. Now that the weather is getting colder here, we have fall on the brain and this look is perfect for that! This look would look great dressed up for an event or dressed down with a pair of jeans. Either way, Smith nailed it.

We decided to go with browns and tans for a more fall friendly look and thought that it would pair well with some green eye shadow. A copy cat of this look is enough to make a wizard drop his wand. čÖé
